Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!

Today I shift focus a bit.

“There were sheepherders camping in the neighborhood. They had set night watches over their sheep. Suddenly, God’s angel stood among them and God’s glory blazed around them. They were terrified. The angel said, “Don’t be afraid. I’m here to announce a great and joyful event that is meant for everybody, worldwide:
A Savior has just been born in David’s town, a Savior who is Messiah and Master. . .
At once the angel was joined by a huge angelic choir singing God’s praises:
Glory to God in the heavenly heights,
Peace to all men and women on earth who please him.” (Luke 2:8-14 NLT)

It never ceases to amaze me that even though God looked through time and space and saw how humanity, myself included, would utterly corrupt the perfect world He created, He not only planned for our salvation, but He followed up by sending His Son to us. Instead of acting in anger, He chose to respond with love.

And Jesus willingly left His place of glory to be born in simple, even poor conditions. He left riches and a place of worship for poverty, mockery, and suffering. He embraced that life because He, too, looked through time and considered His suffering worth the price for salvation.

So, while I remember and celebrate the miraculous birth of my Savior, I praise God and thank Him for His sacrifice.

“For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”  (Isaiah 9:6 NLT)

May the love of God in Christ and His peace find you.

Merry Christmas!
